Consistency and Discipline (kids)

I was a single mom for the first 8 years of Nate's life.
My son was an over-active handful to say the least.
I worked nights, slept days, and spoiled him out of guilt. Never really kept my word when it came to disciplining him. He'd be grounded for the weekend, but I'd let him off after 5 hours because his behavior would do a flip, and he'd act so sweet.

It did the kid no good.

When my husband came into the picture, I slowly felt less guilt over the years, and started actually meaning what I said. And,  it worked! My husband was/is my backbone. We discuss, and agree upon punishments, then stick to them!

 Kids crave consistency and discipline.

Last year, we asked it of him, and he maintained a 'C' average.
If not, he'd be grounded. Without the internet, tv, ipod, and not allowed over his friends houses..
He is now such a good student. So respectful.

 Consistently keeping your word works.

Abundant Emapthy

Whenever I'm petting an animal, I do a good job of it. My empathy kicks in, and I imagine them having a headache or sore muscles. Otherwise, what's the point?

Shopping List

Regular grocery store:
 Baking soda (big bag)
Kitty treats (she tires of only having one kind of treat)
GARLIC (ingredient used in practically every dish I make)
Citrus
Fruit (hoping for xtra ripened bananas for bread/cake)
Tomato puree Dish washing liquid
Black trash bags
 Sage
Cardamom
Epsom Salt
 Rye

Trader Joe's:
Spicy Peanut vinaigrette
Goddess dressing
Vegan cream cheese
Tofurky Italian sausages

In the place where I work, I come across several pieces of forgotten papers. Notes written on front pages of books, scribbles, doodles, love letters, goals and lists of all kinds.
I enjoy finding and reading them. One can learn a lot about someone through their everyday writings.
